We are working on a project to spay and nueter as many kitties as we can. There are a lot of owners who cant afford the high prices the vets charge, so we are collecting donations to help others in need. Our current project is trapping a colony of feral cats at a local barn and getting the all fixed and vaccinated. We are also starting to have all the cats in rescue have dentals. Many have had to have teeth extracted. Not many owners know the importance of this. It is very costly, but very important, so please help by donating to this cause also. Please use the tool above to make your donations.
YCR is starting to accept rabbit and birds that are in need of a home. We are only taking a limited amount but will have some up for adoption once they are ready.
OUR FEATURED PET
BRADY
Brady is a young adult, roughly around 4 years old. He is a manx, "stumpy". He was rescued from a high kill shelter where his previous owners sent him when her husband didnt want the cats. He is super friendly and loves to curl up in your lap for pats. You can also find him starring out the window at the birds and lizards. He does real well with children, dogs and cats. He has gained a bit of weight in his foster home, so he could use a little diet!! He is nuetered, tested neg for FIV/FELV, current on shots and dewormed. He would love to find a family to call home.
News
Yankee Cat Rescue is excited to start its own cat rescue!! A cat rescue has been in the works for a long time and it has finally put it into place. I am originally from MA (hence the name Yankee) and moved to FL, where I have seen to many adoptable cats be euthanized every day. This problem of over population is never going to end, but if we can adopt out just one cat, think of the difference we have made for that animal. Since becoming an official rescue in May 2003, YCR has successfully placed over 150 cats and kittens in excellent homes. Thanks to all the wonderful families, who made room in their lives, for these deserving kitties! They are all very lucky!!

Who We Are
Yankee Cat Rescue is a no-kill, all volunteer organization. It was established to provide temporary shelter and care for cats, with the ultimate goal of finding permanent homes for each cat. YCR pulls cats from the local animal shelter before their time is up to be euthanized. We always welcome help from anyone interested in the preservation and rescue of felines. Please contact us if you have time to share or a willingness to provide a cat with temporary residence until a permanent adoption can take place. We also gratefully accept donations of food, blankets, toys and kitty litter.
Adopting a friend
All potential adoptors are required to fill out an information sheet. We will then do a vet reference check and home study/interview and make arrangements to meet the cat you are interested in adopting. Upon approval you will be ready to welcome your new cat into your family! Please email YCR if you are interested in a cat and we can email you a sheet for your review. This is not intended to deny anyone, but to find the best possible match for you and the pet. All animals are up to date on shots, altered and in some cases, microchipped. The adoption fee is $65 for all cats. The adoption fee for dogs is $80.
Come Visit Us!
Once you have found the perfect cat for you, send in an application and we will give you directions to the foster home where the cat is located. We encourage you to come spend time with the cat to make sure it is the best fit for both of you.
